Re: Bird Photos

Getting these shots was luckier than you know. I couldn't open my front door to shoot the pics or they would have scattered. The photos were shot through the glass of my screen door. At first none of them would come close to the door so I had to shoot at an angle. The glass was a bit dirty and fogged so the photos came out with a haze over them. Thanks to Photoshop I was able to clear that up. After a bit though, the birds started coming closer to the porch. One male Cardinal came up and landed right on one corner of the porch, but only long enough to get one photo. Now I have started tossing seed down on the ground right in front of the porch and on the porch itself. It is working like a charm.

I sure hope that your butterfly comes back.

Thank you. It has been well worth the challenges. Of course they all still taunt me. I'll go to one spot to wait for opportunities so they go to my other usual spot. If I switch spots then so do they.

At the very least they can feel our footsteps. I did get some more online now. Here is a Dove, a Red-winged Blackbird and an unidentified bird. Can you believe the colors reflecting on that last one. Until the sun hit it that bird was just plain black with eerie yellow eyes.

It does share a lot of traits in common with the Brewer's Blackbird. I looked at some other sites to see photos but didn't see any with the gold or red-violet highlights that mine has. Here is another shot that shows more of the colors. I'll have to check with an online buddy here in Texas and see what he says. It could very well be that you are right.

Well whatever he is .....he certainly is a beauty. Almost like he should be called the "Northern lights bird" the way he shimmers, it reminds me of the Northern lights.

Very good observation. He was quite the visual treat. If only it would have come out of the branches for a clearer shot. I haven't seen one like it since that day.

He looks like he might be a 'fruit/seed' eater. Have you tried one of those boxes with the wire bottom, filled with sunflower seeds and dried raisins or cranberry's in it?
Might lure him out..
