A few of them still have blooms even now. Maybe all of that lava rock insulates the ground. If you look closely at the first shot you can see the ice crystals. The second shot is the new Autumn Sage plant that I put in the rock garden last Fall.

It has got to be the lava rocks....
I love the ice crystal ones. Very cool looking....(no pun intended emoticon )
That Autumn Sage is going to be gorgeous when it's a couple feet big. Hummers love it....I love the minty smell of the leaves.
Remember, that is one that is disease and insect free and drought tolerant, and once established, should not be fertilized. emoticon

I have found that not only do the Hummers love Autumn Sage but some butterflies do too. My Gulf Fritillaries and various Sulphurs adore the stuff. They are tough as nails and come in a growing variety of colors which is great.

I took some new pics the other day that I think you'll like. The Creeping Phlox is blooming like crazy with the recent warm weather and a little rain. I also discovered one of my newest Coneflowers is sprouting. Last year I gathered seeds from them and put them in other beds so maybe I'll have more plants this year.

Can't wait to see them! We have a few daffodils, crocus etc. blooming and the peony's are up about a foot or so. But we are still getting mighty cold, especially at night. Just above freezing. Hoping we don't drop below freezing or I'll lose my lilac buds again, like last year! emoticon

I had a lot of plants get knocked for a loop during the last late freeze that we had a few months back. Luckily they didn't die but it sure slowed their development. Now as promised here are some pics.

It is one of my favorite creations so far. Two of the Coneflowers are blooming nicely right now. I keep meaning to take pics while they are at their peak but never get around to it. There were a couple of nice opportunities with butterflies feeding but I figure they would have been gone by the time I got my camera.
