Re: Cold frame instructions and photos

I actually had a new young person show up and I was quite proud of him. While pruning back a bunch of plants he found a big Salt Marsh Moth caterpillar that he brought over to me. I was initially scared that he'd killed it because he carried it over on the pruning shears. He didn't kill it. I would imagine he was playing it safe since he didn't know if it was safe to touch. He set it down and it rapidly scurried away. It is so refreshing to find kids with a respect for life no matter how small. emoticon

That is the only way this old world of ours is going to survive with us intact. If our young people learn to respect Nature down to the smallest creature.
So proud of that young man....and you for caring enough to teach.♥

Here are two more examples of what great kids we have here. First of all we had kids come over and mow our yard for free. They have even offered to continue. Then yesterday, after learning that our mower is broken we had an offer to fix it, supposedly by a much older young person. Due to the nature of the damage we politely declined. I think that we will be making a deal on the mowing though. We will surely not expect it for free though. Kids can always use their own spending money.

We've been bouncing several ideas around. In addition to some pocket money we are thinking of the idea of having a cookout and having the kids come over. We'd have to get a grill of some sort. We could do burgers, hotdogs and what not, plus drinks. What kid doesn't like to eat?

The kids sure seem to be anxious to get to work. They are already asking if the yard needs to be mowed again.

emoticon Good kids.....I noticed a few around the neighborhood here shoveling certain driveways. But it looked like maybe church groups that the older people may be members of.

With the rain that we're getting the grass is getting started. In a way though maybe I'm glad that I haven't seen the milkweed yet. If they cut the grass maybe the Monarch food will be safe.
