First caterpillar of 2014
I'm definitely way late on this announcement but better late than never. This was my very first caterpillar for the year. It wasn't until it got large enough that I could tell that it was a Queen and not a Monarch.
I had just watered the area before walking around to see this comical sight. One big droplet stuck to the top of its head like a big crystal ball.

Now if only I could get a few more. With several species of milkweed growing this year I would expect more babies.

Your fingers have magic in them. I've found 7 total Monarch caterpillars over the last several weeks.
