Re: Bird Sightings
I don't know how else to describe it. It would be an awfully powerful set of coincidences.

Re: Bird Sightings
I've started pulling into the driveway and just sitting in the car. The birds don't seem to mind me until I get out. I even roll my window down before pulling into the drive just to improve my chances. So far not much luck.

Re: Bird Sightings
LOL You are as crazy as I am! I pop my camera in my pocket trying to catch the covey of Quail that cross the drive ways through the park at night......but the only time I see them is when I don't have my camera or it's too dark to get a good picture!

Re: Bird Sightings
My patience finally paid off. I pulled up this morning and sat in the car for a while with the window down. Now mind you it was below freezing outside but I barely noticed. I had one male Cardinal, a Mourning Dove, two Eastern Meadowlarks plus a host of others. I haven't gotten a chance to preview the photos yet.

Re: Bird Sightings
I definitely got several good shots that I should be posting before too long. More good news. I have seen my little albino twice more after an absence for a while. Today was one of the sightings.

Re: Bird Sightings
Birdwatching was very good over the Valentines Day weekend. There were Cardinals aplenty along with Eastern Meadowlarks, Cowbirds, White-crowned Sparrows, Mourning Doves, Red-winged Blackbirds, Starlings and once again my little albino Dark-eyed Junco. There were also many that I haven't identified yet. I have come to think of birds as my Winter butterflies now. Now I have something to photograph year round.

Re: Bird Sightings
I don't remember what the temperature got up to. All I know is that it was barely above freezing early in the morning when I was out with the camera.
As it turns out, my white bird isn't actually an albino but is what is called leucistic. Many animals can be albino or leucistic. The differences are that albinos are white all over and have either red or pink eyes. Leucistic creatures lack pigment development usually in patches on their bodies, though rarely they will be white all over. Their eyes are normally colored. So my little guy is still rare.
