I do have to admit to doing something not long back just to see if I had the guts to do it. There was a big Orb Weaver spider with a web in one of my small front yard flower beds. I actually went up and touched her on the back...very quickly mind you.nondisclosed_email@example.com (PKCaptSun)Wed, 18 Nov 2015 06:49:49 +0000 Re: What likes Peonieshttps://bwingsofwonder.runboard.com/p6135,from=rss#post6135https://bwingsofwonder.runboard.com/p6135,from=rss#post6135I've taken them home before, if I had a safe way of transporting them....don't want them lost in the car, only to die from heat or whatever....when I could not find them. I picked one out of my Mom's hair this last weekend....we were looking in the old barn for a piece of wood to finish they're front porch.....and when we stepped outside, she had one in her hair...I said..."hold still"...she did, and I picked it out and set it down on another pile of wood... The look on her face was priceless! And she said.."aren't you taking this "LOVE ALL" a bit to far?" I just said..."nope" nondisclosed_email@example.com (Queenyforever)Tue, 06 Oct 2015 10:35:11 +0000 Re: What likes Peonieshttps://bwingsofwonder.runboard.com/p6112,from=rss#post6112https://bwingsofwonder.runboard.com/p6112,from=rss#post6112Even though I know the good done by spiders I couldn't have brought myself to take one home.nondisclosed_email@example.com (PKCaptSun)Wed, 09 Sep 2015 02:47:43 +0000 Re: What likes Peonieshttps://bwingsofwonder.runboard.com/p6104,from=rss#post6104https://bwingsofwonder.runboard.com/p6104,from=rss#post6104I've taken frogs from the plants at home depot home and released them in my garden! I even saved a rather large spider, who was on one of my plants this year....but I had a lot of shopping to do, so I released him outside by the trees on the river... nondisclosed_email@example.com (Queenyforever)Mon, 06 Jul 2015 11:59:28 +0000 Re: What likes Peonieshttps://bwingsofwonder.runboard.com/p6097,from=rss#post6097https://bwingsofwonder.runboard.com/p6097,from=rss#post6097I once purposely brought home a tree frog from Home Depot too. It was on a type of plant that I wanted to buy so it made the choice easy. I've also adopted caterpillars from stores just to save them.nondisclosed_email@example.com (PKCaptSun)Fri, 03 Jul 2015 03:40:44 +0000 Re: What likes Peonieshttps://bwingsofwonder.runboard.com/p6086,from=rss#post6086https://bwingsofwonder.runboard.com/p6086,from=rss#post6086  nondisclosed_email@example.com (Queenyforever)Fri, 12 Jun 2015 11:45:21 +0000 Re: What likes Peonieshttps://bwingsofwonder.runboard.com/p6077,from=rss#post6077https://bwingsofwonder.runboard.com/p6077,from=rss#post6077I actually rescued one of these from a Home Depot once and took it home to release. nondisclosed_email@example.com (PKCaptSun)Fri, 12 Jun 2015 01:02:32 +0000 Re: What likes Peonieshttps://bwingsofwonder.runboard.com/p6076,from=rss#post6076https://bwingsofwonder.runboard.com/p6076,from=rss#post6076This guy was sitting on my Rubbermaid bin I have for storing my outside chair cushions in. That is a species that I've seen in my yard too. They are so much fun to watch in flight, though difficult to photograph. I'm pleased to say that I have gotten some good shots of them though. nondisclosed_email@example.com (PKCaptSun)Fri, 05 Jun 2015 03:21:56 +0000 Re: What likes Peonieshttps://bwingsofwonder.runboard.com/p6074,from=rss#post6074https://bwingsofwonder.runboard.com/p6074,from=rss#post6074Unfortunately, the peony flowers are spent and I don't know what happened to the caterpillar. I did see a few of these....is it possible this is what that was? nondisclosed_email@example.com (Queenyforever)Tue, 02 Jun 2015 10:33:04 +0000 Re: What likes Peonieshttps://bwingsofwonder.runboard.com/p6073,from=rss#post6073https://bwingsofwonder.runboard.com/p6073,from=rss#post6073SWEET!! That is the one that kind of looks like a hummer! I've left it alone....so far as I know (now checked in a couple days)..it's still there. But the peonies are almost past prime and losing their petals. I hope he/she will be okay... Thank you, BTW! nondisclosed_email@example.com (Queenyforever)Fri, 29 May 2015 11:04:15 +0000 Re: What likes Peonieshttps://bwingsofwonder.runboard.com/p6072,from=rss#post6072https://bwingsofwonder.runboard.com/p6072,from=rss#post6072I've read that the White-lined Sphinx Moth will use Peonies as a host plant. Your caterpillar could be an early instar of that species.nondisclosed_email@example.com (PKCaptSun)Thu, 28 May 2015 03:16:30 +0000 What likes Peonieshttps://bwingsofwonder.runboard.com/p6071,from=rss#post6071https://bwingsofwonder.runboard.com/p6071,from=rss#post6071Hey lady....I took a photo of my White Peony, did not realize there was a green caterpillar in there. Did not want to disturb it in case it was someone important. So the photo is not terribly clear. Thought you might know a green caterpillar that likes Peonies. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Queenyforever)Mon, 18 May 2015 13:18:40 +0000
