Your Favorite Birds

I thought I'd add a place for people to tell what their favorite birds are.

Since I was a child I've always had a soft spot for Red-tailed Hawks. There were a common sight in many of the places I lived in Wisconsin.

I also love Cardinals, Hummingbirds, Goldfinches and Baltimore Orioles. Basically the more colorful it is the more I like it.

I love cardinals. They have the most beautiful songs!

Cardinals definitely have distinctive voices. I can't mistake their song or little chirps for any other bird. I've gotten to be able to recognize hummingbird chirps too. That is one cute sound.

Re: Your Favorite Birds

All of those birds are gorgeous and they're songs are uplifting, but I have to say that my very favorite birds are the most common of them all.
The Chickadees and Nuthatches, because in the dead of Winter in Minnesota, 2 feet of snow on the ground, no green vegetation anywhere and temps to below zero...all seems dead. Except at my feeders. There they were, the Chickadees and Nuthatches (or as my neighbor called them "assups" for they're unusual feeding habit.)
And why are they my favorite......because after 2 or 3 months of winter and cold and snow.....those tiny birds always came, always sang, they were alive and vibrant and brought hope that if something that tiny and seemingly frail could make it till Spring.....so could I! emoticon

I'm not sure if I have those here but there are a number of cute perky little birds that always come in for feeding time. I see doves fairly often lately and I think that I saw a Red-winged Blackbird late this morning.

I know what you mean about the little guys. They can sure cheer you up.

Here is a place that lets you hear a Chickadee..LINK...if you listen all the way through you can hear the reason they are called Chick-a-dee-dee-dee
(BTW...my cats love that sound bite) emoticon
First one is a Chickadee

Second one is a Nuthatch or Assup, and you can see why!

What cute little voices they have. The top photo is sort of similar to a bird that I see lots of here. I just haven't gotten any photos of them. Thanks for the new pics and link.
