Re: Your Favorite Birds
I live in North Central Ohio. The eagles have only been at the lake about 4 years (to my knowledge).
After the nest fell, they only found the girl baby. I saw the boy baby in a field near the nest and reported it at the Bird Sanctuary. They found him and put him back in the tree. I never saw the babies after that day, but I understand they are still here. I haven't seen or read much about this year's babies.

Re: Your Favorite Birds
We used to see a lot of Eagles and Red-tailed hawks in Minnesota. Here we have a lot of Hawks, not sure what they are though...

Re: Your Favorite Birds
I have had a red tailed hawk in my back yard! That is one big dude and he, well maybe it was a she, came for the bird buffet on my porch.
I have a picture, but it is a very poor picture. I had to take it to the bird sanctuary to figure out what kind of hawk it was. They knew in a heartbeat.

Re: Your Favorite Birds
The Red-tailed Hawks have been remarkably plentiful around here this year. Only one was cooperative enough for me to get good shots.

Re: Your Favorite Birds
This is my only picture:
My hawk doesn't quite look like your hawk. Mine was at least 2 ft tall and as you can see it has one of my birds.

Re: Your Favorite Birds
I thought that it looked like it had caught something. The only thing I've had that trouble with is stray cats.

Re: Your Favorite Birds
Yeah, MOM and DAD have a nesting pair that have nabbed a couple of their cats over the last few years....when they got down to one cat, I talked MOM into making it an INDOOR ONLY cat!

Re: Your Favorite Birds
I can certainly see the wisdom in that move. My sister has outdoor cats too. I wonder if they've lost any to wildlife.
